Pre Planned Absences/ Short Term Independent Study
Dear Marina Village Families,
At Marina Village, we recognize that valuable learning and important life events often happen outside the classroom—whether it’s a unique travel opportunity, a specialized sports competition, a college visit, or necessary time for medical recovery.
To help your student stay on track academically during these times, we are pleased to offer Short-Term Independent Study Contracts. This program ensures that students can complete their schoolwork and maintain their attendance records while away for pre-planned events.
To help you plan, please keep these helpful guidelines in mind:

Duration: Contracts are available for absences lasting 3 to 15 school days total per school year.

Advance Notice: To give our staff time to prepare materials, we kindly ask for a 5-school-day notice prior to the absence.

Timing: Please note that Independent Study is not available during the first two weeks or the last month of the school year, as these are critical times for transitions and testing.
- All Homework: Students will hand in all competed homework to the correct teacher on the day they return.
